About me

Hi, I’m Andriëtte (aka ‘Tinker.’)

My road to where I am today is a long one and I won’t bore you with the gory details.  Suffice it to say that I were so utterly allergic to doing any kind of hand embroidery/sewing that I wouldn’t even bother sewing on a button after I machine sewn tailored pants for myself!

I limited myself to machine sewing and that was that!

When my mom got older and going out became more difficult for her (of course, she embroidered beautifully her whole life,) I decided to invite a few of her friends over so they can chat and embroider together once a week.

One day I saw beautifully made ribbon roses on Youtube and when I told the ladies about it, they convinced me to teach them how to do it.  And … the rest is history.  The bug had it’s teeth in me and would not let go.

Tinker Patterns started as an extension of my love of embroidery and a need to share this rewarding pastime.  I want everyone to try their hand at this wonderful art form.  This addiction needs to be shared!

I love how embroidery can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be.  It is a relatively cheap pastime and you get to make old fashioned (or chic modern) heirloom pieces to leave your children.  The repetitive nature of stitching is a wonderfully meditate experience and a perfect way to ease the soul.

My main focus with this website is to design and share my embroidery patterns and also build a collection of tutorials for those of you needing guidance.  I’m working on a collection of stitches and ‘how to’ pages that demonstrate how things are done via videos, picture guides and written instructions.

Have a look around, if there is something you like, go ahead and have fun with it!
